Yesoiday Hatorah School
Laidlaw Balustrades helps Manchester school achieve an ultra-modern look without compromising on safety or compliance with regulations. Laidlaw Balustrades have recently completed their installation works at Yesoiday Hatorah School in Prestwich, Manchester. Working for Paragon Construction and in association with Bernard Joesph Architects, Laidlaw Balustrades were responsible for the supply and install of brushed stainless steel handrail and balustrades to the new four storey administration and teaching block.
The school was built for boys and girls aged three to eleven serving the orthodox Jewish community after outgrowing its existing three storey building and needed to expand to serve a wider area of people willing to commute. By providing purpose made, Normbau brushed stainless steel handrails with high level clear glass infill’s, we were able to create a modern, contemporary feel that lets light flood the stairwell and surrounding rooms. The high level glass exceeds normal regulations in terms of handrail height and goes that little bit further in terms of protecting from falls, perfectly suited for the buildings younger inhabitants.
Laidlaw Balustrades handrails and balustrades are high quality products, extremely durable and virtually maintenance free, perfect for high traffic areas. The glass is 10mm thick clear, toughened to EN12150 with flat polished edges and radiused corners. This helps meet the requirements in Building Regulations Park K of balustrades not being easily climbable and not allowing any gaps that a 100mm sphere could pass through. We also incorporated tactile elements including: raised circular profiles sitting directly on-top of the handrails to let visually impaired users know that the staircase flight is about to start or terminate.
Laidlaw Balustrades are able to supply the complete package, including site surveys, production drawings, technical support, manufacture and installation. At YesoidayHatorah School, we have successfully supplied something unique and modern while ensuring safe and accessible areas for all its students and staff.
